Ryujin was appearing a lot in the entertainment industry before her debut with Itzy. She acted in BTS‘ MV for „Love Yourself“, in which she acted as J-Hope’s and Jimin’s partner. She also acted in the movie „The King“. She ranked das first place in YG Entertainment’s survival show „Mixnine“. YG even offered her to join his agency but she decided to stay in JYP Entertainment. She appeared in another survival show, the first episode of Stray Kids‘ Survival Show.

She was casted at Got7’s fan meeting and trained under JYP Entertainment for four years before her debut.

Ryujin is currently attending the Hanlim Multi Arts School in the department of Practical Dance.

She has many idol friends. She is close with Loona’s Heejin and Hyunjin, Dreamcatcher’s Jiu and Elris‘ Bella.
